How do I change my autogenerated password?
Login to your account via this page: http://www.porkyhost.com/myaccount.htm and select the "Change Password" link from the menu. It is that easy. Keep in mind that there could be a 4 min lag before this becomes active at the FTP level.

I would like to cancel my account. What do I do?
Login to your account via this page: http://www.porkyhost.com/myaccount.htm and select the "Cancel Account" link from the menu. Shortly afterwards you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to reregister in the future.

What is the name of the FTP host?
ftp.porkyhost.com

I am a paying customer! How do I activate my own 404?
Activating your own 404 is easy. Just place a file named 404.html in your home directory and our server will serve that file rather than our 404 when a file is not found.

How do I upload my site using the integrated FTP client in Internet Explorer?
It is easy! Just type in the following in your browser's location bar: ftp://login:passwd@ftp.porkyhost.com/. Where login is your the PorkyHost login you chose at registration and passwd is the autogenerated password we made for you or the one you created after logging into "My Account". The next screen you see will be the remote server's FTP directory for your site. Once here you should be able to drag and drop multiple files and directories up to our servers from your local drive.

I uploaded my files and verified them on my site but now they have been replaced with a 409 Error Page! What is going on?
Non-Compliant files will be removed and replaced when our publishing program detects them. Read the error explanation carefully and check your email for more info on how to resolve the issue.

Keep in mind that our unrestricted accounts allow you to publish any type of file and have added features like on-demand publishing and the ability to stage your content. If you are interested in finding out more about our unrestricted hosting plans email: sales@porkyhost.com

I successfully uploaded a file to my FTP directory and it has since been deleted!
The PorkyHost publishing program replaces files that are not compliant with a 409 html error page of the same name, explaining the conflict. However, in some cases the publishing program will delete the non-compliant file all together without a replacement page. This usually happens when the file involved is not text or has an unacceptable extension for web text files (html and style-sheet files).

In either case described above, our publishing program will always email you an explanation of the compliance problem. If you feel that our publishing program has made an error, feel free to email us at: admin@porkyhost.com with a detailed explanation.

I registered over a week ago but have never uploaded files to my site. Now I can't log in!
Check your email. If not used within 7 days, Free PorkyHost Accounts are deactivated. We need to do this so that lagging users do not squat on our valuable subdomains. You will always receive an email when our account management systems decide to deactivate your account. The email will also contain information on how to reactivate your account. Keep in mind that the subdomain that you originally had may not be available at reregistration.

Why does my browser's location bar read queue.porkyhost.com instead of my subdomain?
The PorkyHost Content Network consists of published files and pre-published files. If you attempt to view a recently ftp'ed' file that has not yet been published, our server might redirect you to the pre-publishing server queue.porkyhost.com. This allows you to view your files immediately rather than having to wait for our publishing system to make these files available under your subdomain or hosted domain. Keep in mind that files viewed on the queue server may be later removed upon publishing, if found to be non-compliant by our publishing system.

Why is there already an index.html file in my FTP directory?
New PorkyHost Accounts will have a welcome file in your document root directory telling people that the webmaster for this new subdomain has yet to publish any documents. Don't worry. You can overwrite this document with your own at any time.
